Transport for London (TfL) is the integrated transport authority responsible for meeting the Mayor of London’s strategy and commitments relating to transport in London. TfL runs the day to day operation of the Capital’s public transport network and manages London’s main roads. TfL has responsibility for more than 23,000 street trees and 800,000m² of woodland alongside the road network, and a substantial trackside green estate adjacent to the rail network. The TfL Green Infrastructure (GI) Team is based in TfL Engineering and acts as in-house consultants, providing advice and support for all matters relating to GI across the whole organisation and helping to ensure the safety of our assets. The Mayor’s Transport Strategy and London Environment Strategy commit TfL to increasing tree numbers and canopy cover and the GI Team is an integral part of ensuring that these commitments are met, working with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the desired objectives and continue to bring environmental, economic and social benefits to Londoners.
